Position Overview: We are seeking a fast moving Head of Engineering who will oversee the development, integration, and scaling of AI-first software.

You will be hands on coding, but also drive technical strategy, product innovation, and operational excellence for our team.

Responsibilities:

Technical Contribution:

• Get hands on with builds, primarily backend related. Ability to quickly learn to fill in gaps that we don’t yet have specialized roles for. 
• Ensure scalability, security, and robustness of our core software and client facing APIs.

Strategy + Leadership:

• Along with the CEO, develop and execute the technical roadmap, aligning it closely with business goals and customer needs.
• Oversee the architecture and implementation of computer vision models and AI solutions, rapidly deciding whether to build or buy based on business needs.
• Stay abreast of opportunities to increase our moat and increase efficiency of offering through software enabled hardware.
• Manage and mentor a high-performing and growing team of engineers.
• Be abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field 
• 8+ years experience in SWE roles.
• Experience building and scaling complex, high-availability systems and services.
• Experience with modern software development practices, architecture, and infrastructure.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication skills, and ability to translate complex technology solutions into clear business value.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in commerce enablement.
• 5+ years of progressive experience within senior IC roles, with 2 years in management roles, overseeing teams of 5+ engineers. 
• Experience in building and scaling software products and infrastructure within fast growing startups.
